Energy Storage Breakthrough – Solid Hydrogen Explained [video]

This isn't "solid hydrogen" as the 'clickbaity' title suggests, but rather just another metal hydride for storing H2 (don't get me wrong, there is a lot of promise in this field, just nothing exceptionally 'disruptive' here as the video suggests). H2 is by far much more energy dense than Li-ion batteries, so I'm not sure why the author keeps raising that point (note I'm bullish on H2 for this very reason). For most energy applications, energy density, volatility, and cost /kWh are the three supreme attributes.
The point that the cost to store the H2 using this method is about 50% that of compressed/liquified H2 is a valid benefit, but without a clear comparison with the MANY other metal hydrides (having similar attributes), the point is largely moot. I do like the role-to-role processing though, that's clever.
