Everyone's moving to Texas. Here's why (NYT)

That being said, I do really like visiting Texas. Canoeing from Possum Kingdom Lake down to I-20 along the Brazos is one of my favourite things to do. But property taxes are too high here. And there are no real parks. And pretty much every highway is a toll-road. And the last time I saw a fresh vegetable here was in 1989. But visit the Kimbell if you go to Ft. Worth and the Meadows museum on the SMU campus over in Dallas has a decent collection. And despite the occasional hard freeze, it's much more temperate than Chicago.
But move here? Nah.
