The policy that caught my (American) eye is the reduction of the voting age to 16. I imagine the idea has been bouncing around for some time, but my first guess is that the motivation might be related to the environment?
16 is also the legal drinking age for beer, so it's just natural that the voting age is adjusted accordingly ;)
It's just a move to expand their voter base. Young people vote overwhelmingly for the newly elected parties.
