The UK government’s plan to reform data-protection laws are terrifying

If you're not going to make data collection opt-in and/or mandate respecting a global DNT flat then none of this matters anyway and you might as well just scrap consent altogether. Individual choice means bupkis when the leverage between site operator and user are so skewed.

So ya know what, good on the UK for making a positive change for users while at least being up front that we're all fucked anyway and nothing matters because business economy jobs something something whatever I just want campaign donations. Glad we're at least admitting now that our corporate overlords' interests are so strong that any privacy legislation can only have as much teeth as does not actually break skin.
