That's why only the most established SDC companies, namely MobilEye and now Waymo are doing it in NYC. This fact also tells who "has it" and who's just sales talks and promises.
Since it is just a driver assistance system, the user will only turn it on when they feel it is useful. The interior camera is used for driver monitoring to make sure that people don't use their phone / fall asleep etc.
Encourage everyone to try this latest software if you can, it's incredible.
Yes, this test - someday - would be ideal. But for now it belittles what otherwise could be a win for plenty of commuters.

For actual long distance mostly interstate drives? A huge win. While there's been some focus on this at specific car manufacturers, probably more interesting overall than the urbanite who wants a ride home from the bar.
