If anyone is looking for a linux OS running a web-interface on top of docker, look for Vessel.

https://github.com/matheussantana/vessel https://github.com/matheussantana/vessel/raw/master/vessel.p...

Vessel is a portable web operating system distribution. By deploying the vessel machine you have pre-configured servers such as Portainer, Owncloud, Jenkins, Redis, LAMP, Ubuntu XFCE with noVNC, MySQL and more!

https://www.vultr.com/marketplace/apps/vessel There is also an AWS AMI available (see github for details)

This is the worst name for a product I've ever heard.

Could you please explain why this is a bad name? I'm genuinely interested since English is not my mother tongue.

Firstly, the title only vaguely relates to the product. Secondly, the word ‘cream’ outside of a culinary context usually either means some sort of medication you rub on your body, or it’s a slang word for ejaculation.

I see. Thank you very much.

It seems more like a UI shell than an a full OS.

Does this run web apps in standalone windows in it’s desktop?

I’m just not quite sure what this is.

As an operating system, how can I execute arbitrary programs in it?

It's coming up. I'm testing it t the moment. This was way more difficult than I expected lol

Seems to be a very similar idea to https://www.os-js.org/

What is your target market? Enterprise? And what is built on?

I'm not sure yet. It's built mostly in vanilla JS for the frontend and node for the backend.

Are there screenshots?

Yes, if you view the website on desktop there is a screenshot on the homepage. I'm gonna add more, this is very beta right now.
