It always (still?) surprises me how difficult it is to share files across the Internet. You'd think this would have been a solved problem already given how long we've been communicating with each other electronically.
In one of the episodes of The Good Wife (a legal-politico drama), the defense lawyer's investigator gets her hands on the "original" video and finds something relevant on it, and comments on how the police / prosecution often give re-encoded videos to the defense so that they miss some important detail in it. As someone who isn't American, I remember wondering how that could be legal and thought it was poor research by the otherwise fantastic team of writers of that show. Surprised by this news today!
