I think the main issue is that there is no scale on the Y-axis.
And ultimately the goal would be to minimize the area below the curve, right? So there has to be some scale on the Y-axis. You could front-load the worry or you could spread it out over time. Either way is probably fine if the total area is the same.
It also explores several different philosophical notions of what money is.
Desire is certainly not the essence of happiness, but it is an emotion humans almost cannot avoid.
If you were to pass away and you had young children or a partner with no income, the value of money would not descend to zero. In fact, the graph can increase in some cases (eg hospital bills, funeral costs, providing for widow and children).
I find this individual centered thinking more prevalent in certain western cultures.
Money just abstracts hunting all day...to sitting in an office all day doing mental or creative work.
The real problem imo is that money allows the rich to accumulate the wealth to a massive extent while the poor have 60 to 80 hours a week.
