An unsurprising turn of events and the whole reason why Meta is in such a hurry. In fact, I have said this before already [0] and this article summarises what Meta plans to challenge Apple with, and the unattractiveness of the App Store to games companies will start to show when the metaverse is implemented by anyone who detests the App Store taxes; Microsoft, Epic Games, Netflix are notable companies involved.
This is where we are heading and smart-glasses with AR capabilities, cryptocurrencies with the so-called hype of 'web3' and the metaverse are technologies going to be involved in this of course.
