I hope this will be the case for this stuff too. But I'm sure these companies will go all-in and shove it in our faces. Oh well, yet another reason to avoid them. I see more and more apathy towards social media around me.
One reason I go to Amazon for buying stuff is just that they do it so well. They don't push too much stuff or send me newsletters. They just sell me what I'm looking for and deliver it to my local pickup machine so I don't even have to be at home. And no-hassle returns.
I know they're killing local business but the stores for stuff I buy on Amazon (electronics etc) are all in the hands of big multinational chains anyway.
But if I could buy directly on Google, would they do it this well? I doubt it. They probably use the cheapest shitty courier that takes 3 days to deliver and have an office on the other side of town to pick up from if I wasn't home.
I suppose this is just a different form of advertising, but hopefully it is less user hostile then pop up ads and intrusive tracking.
To the detriment of the rest of the world.
How much can people stomach anyway?
