Blood pressure drugs could prevent type 2 diabetes

Enough of this already. There are too many people on too many prescriptions. Lifestyle changes can contribute to a significantly greater reduction in T2D risk and have numerous other benefits including significant reduction in all cause mortality.
Tinkering with Ang II feedback loops makes people dependent on the drug as ceasing the input to the feedback loop induces hypertension rebound and is risky at best. If you really want to experiment with this and I don't think anyone should there are multiple enzymes that also bind to ACE2 and do not require a prescription. To be clear I am in no way suggesting those required to be on ARB's switch to the non RX options.
I could understand lifestyle changes causing a reduction in both, but not why reducing blood pressure via medication would reduce T2 risk.
