That she is 'not real' seems to miss the point. Outside of the companies and job titles on the CV the content is total and utter nonsense.

Who isnt going to interview someone who is currently:

Same thing as last time this was posted; If a resume has Microsoft, LI, Zillow, and Instagram as the positions listed, that person is getting an invite. When 100s of people are applying, hiring managers don't have time to read every last bullet, but will quickly sort through by looking at stuff like that. It's really not a surprise. The more intense scrutinising comes during the actual interview anyways (as most of the people here know, I guess).

Everything is automated at this point. I'm a one of the big tech companies and a recently received a message from a recruiter that my [completely unrelate to product] experience at [current company] made me a great candidate to build [product] at [new company].

What made it amazing was that going back two positions in my experience would show several years architecting, leading engineering, and eventually selling a company that built [product].

This highlights my number one frustration with applying for associate level software engineer roles. Recruiters see “IT Engineer” as my previous job title and don’t even bother looking at the day to day tasks I was performing to see if they’re applicable.

I have to make sure to update my resume.

Interests:

* Browsing Zillow for 6 months as a lead engineer

* checking facebook for 2 years as a senior engineer

* Using microsoft software engineer s recommendations when writing code.

Not mentioned in the Protocol article is that Angelina also has adult entertainment industry experience and expertise in Mia Khalifa. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from UC Berkeley (emphasis on Cum is in the CV).

Is it possible that some of the responses Angelina received were from pervy hiring managers, not hiring managers who only looked at the companies she claimed to have worked for?

How would those hypothetical hiring managers justify to their superiors why they invited such a candidate for an interview?

Maybe, but then they're also morons in addition to pervs. The bullet points make absolutely no sense, the conclusion has to be that no one bothered to read the CV passed some automated buzzword scanning and perhaps a quick look at the company names.

I mean... the very first bullet says she built something using React for AI on blockchain. She was also the "team coffee maker - ensured team of 6 was fully caffeinated with Antarctican coffee beans ground to 14 nm particles".

Come on. Even pervs can tell this is a joke.

I can assure you there are people in San Francisco who would be very excited if you told them that you had finely-ground Antarctican coffee.

I’ve given instructions to screening recruiters to ask a set of questions. And only pass me that had a passionate or detailed answer.

I didn’t care what they said, didn’t want the answers. Just a summary of the intensity of the answer.

Worked well for all involved.

Unless I read this wrong "she" didn't get any actual interviews, just responses from sourcers/recruiters. I assume any actual engineering manager would figure out the bullshit on the first review of the resume.

The only interesting conclusion from this article is that sourcers/recruiters from top tech companies are attracted to candidates from other top name companies. It doesn't speak to who actually gets hired.

Obviously the top of the funnel matters, but this doesn't seem particularly scandalous.

Interviews is generous. Screening calls is more genuine. This is...not surprising.
