I think a lot of people underestimate how rampant cheating is. I knew people in undergrad that would get entire groups together to take online exams. While invasive, ProcotU makes this far more difficult.
You could make the argument this is how real life works, but we'll need to radically redesign the current curriculum if the internet becomes fair game. Long term this is a must, but short term not making an effort to stop cheating will corrupt the entire institution - anyone that doesn't cheat is at a severe disadvantage.
