I finally found the time to update my wife‘s and my moonlight project: Escape Team. Have fun defusing those bombs :-)

(a.k.a. ”How to survive mandatory family get togethers over the holiday season“)

Doesn't come up for me, timed out

well, it's loading now but the document is taking around 10s to load.

Let's hope that server will not collapse under today's attention overload ;)

I also made a little mission editor for it:

https://www.escape-team.com/create

People are using it to create custom escape rooms, at home, at work and especially in education. Finally, a chemistry class about defusing a bomb. :-)

It also supports MP3 audio narration in user-created missions, but only via linking to your own Dropbox, which would host the MP3.

(I‘m super paranoid about hosting user-created content and copyright stuff.)

Love it! Great initiative, these games are fun. We played a lot of 'Space Team' on the phone, cool to see collaborative puzzle games evolve.

It super, super bugs me that black has two light square bishops in the chess puzzle :) (and the labels are the wrong way round)

And here my chess expertise shows its boundaries ;) I‘ll see if I can fix those bishops and labels :)

Space Team was indeed the inspiration for the name, as well as the mechanic of „Keep talking and nobody explodes“, having physical paper on the table.

Clearly one of them is a promoted pawn.

Here's also a starter kit for custom missions:

Not to be confused with https://tmbg.bandcamp.com/album/the-escape-team

confused me, haha! http://tmbw.net/wiki/The_Escape_Team

Lovely project - but I hate the printing paper bit.

Not only it's creating rubbish, I don't even own a printer, so I would need to go to the local library to print a new mission.

I take the alternate view. Tangible stuff is great and I like having something to toss on the kitchen table for the family to work through.

And a little rubbish is not a problem. Paper does sequester CO2 afterall.

Yea the site is slow. BUT WOW! Super cool concept. And looks very fun. I can't wait to try this out with friends at our next game night.

Looking forward to hear your opinion! Have fun :)

I do get the feeling that my good old Webserver from 2009 might be retiring soon…

Awesome :D we played through these a couple of years ago and I’ve been checking in every so often for an update.

I have missions 6-9 on my desk, the audio is recorded, and finally, our daughter gives us some time to launch the update in the next weeks ;)

Oh great to hear, shout out if you want us to test anything

This is cool. Just a tip, your mobile site’s overflow is messed up, so you can scroll way off site to the right.

Ahhh, stupid me. I made a last minute change with the newsletter field, and that had a fixed width. Should be better now. :-)

I really like the landing page!

Thank you!

I built it with Kirby:

– super easy, really great to customize!

(And multi-language!)

Hug of death!

No way, that server has been stable since I rented it 10 years ago. ;)

Love it!
