Assessing crowd management strategies for the 2010 Love Parade disaster

The second largest rave festival which is the street parade in Zürich Switzerland changed a lot since this disaster in Berlin.

The crowds are tightly controlled and monitored at this and other large public events now. If an area becomes too crowded the police will start redirecting people away. There is also a lot of video monitoring of the crowds to proactively avoid sticky situations from occurring. Another concern sadly nowadays is the possibility of a terrorist style attack with a vehicle so key points are now also locked off with vehicle stopping barriers.
