Grady used to be known for something called the Booch Method for design, work that folded into UML. When I was writing my first C++ book for McGraw-Hill many decades ago, I asked Grady via e-mail for info on his design notation because I wanted to use it for my book. He was writing a book on the subject and mailed me a physical copy of his manuscript with his hand written notes on it, and answered a few questions I had. Anyway, a nice guy, very helpful!
