What Will Drive China to War?

Think about it: China is a country whose military has never actually been tested in a large-scale conflict with a savvy, well-resourced enemy. They have literally no idea what their generals and soldiers are going to do if Beijing declared war.
They spent the last 20 years talking big and then the economic boom started turning into a bust. They have massive aging population with coming health problems coupled with a young population that is completely decoupled from the leadership. They massively pollute their land and air to sell us cheap chips.
The reality is Biden could park 3 aircraft carriers right outside of China's maritime borders with guns and planes flying around constantly and the most we'd see is some vigorous chest-beating from Xi's lieutenants and then a retreat.
Do you honestly expect China will become more humble and less bold over time?
It won't be until they get tested in a real war with a real adversary that anybody will take them seriously as a war power.
