Ask HN: Why doesn't any of the HN APKs work when using a private DNS on Android?

I have a Pixel and a private DNS set, who also acts as an adblocker. None of the HN unofficial apps worked while having the DNS active. They just failed to load any content. Apps I've tried: Glider, Harmonic, Materialistic Private DNS I use: dnsforge.de
