This sounds like someone who has never actually used a recent Apple trackpad and who is making things up.

It's simply false that a large trackpad makes clicking harder. There's no physical hinge anymore.

It's not a function of the trackpad, but the ergonomics of having to click which I am not finding comfortable.

I have a MBP 2019 15", MBP 2020 16", and MBA M1. I'd love to see the M1 trackpad on a 16" device.

I think you have been fooled by how clicking on a MacBook trackpad works these days... It's definitely not getting harder to click the larger it is, BECAUSE NO PHYSICAL CLICK IS HAPPENING.
