When companies start making unnecessary acronyms, you know that they have been taken over by business types and engineering department is soon gonna be shrink rapidly.

Gonna be interesting to see how Shopify develops (or the opposite) over the coming 1-2 years.

For future reference (based on LinkedIn data), "Engineering" is currently 25% of the headcount, followed by "Support" (12%), "Sales" (8%) and "Operations" (8%).

Fastest growing departments this year (2021) is "Human Resources" (74%), "Support" (58%) and "Program and Project Management" (47%).
