You can be 100% sure that companies like JP Morgan and Atlassian have a bad working culture. These impositions, no matter how good they may be, are more likely to stem from guilt than sincerity and honestly I would have thought that business leaders act smarter when challenged. Because reflection is certainly not part of their own impositions.
I think individually, a number of the employees mean to do the right thing. I've worked for one of the big consultancies, and there were many, earnest and decent folks there. But collectively, for whatever reason, the choices the company made were awful.
