Ask HN: When were the next/prev/root buttons added?

Yesterday.

You're welcome!

I've gotten requests to handle them in JS so they don't go into the browser history, and am working on that bit.

Thanks for this. Just noticed it; they're pretty handy

I'd only just noticed them now (about 19 hours after this post was submitted). Went looking for mentions and found this.

I've asked mods via email.

There are a few comments in the Open Secrets thread, though no staff responses: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29024032

I have just noticed them today, but they are very useful!

A big "thank you!" to whomever implemented them.

This seems to have happened overnight. I reloaded a page I opened yesterday and posts gained the new anchor links.

I thought I had installed an add-on and forgotten about it!

Hmm, I hadn't noticed that, but I noticed today that the "37 comments" links include too much stuff in the "a" tags now. Surely it's related.

That was unrelated to this change and should be fixed now. Sorry!
