Note how the OP article mentions "no fifth freedom" even right in the title, while this one complains about "fifth freedom" in the treaty. The reality is that the treaty offers limited fifth freedom.
"Fifth freedom" is broadly the right to use EU airports as a stopover foe longer flights, as far as I can tell. "Limited" means that the number of such flights is limited.
