At worst, the appearance of ads on the page muddles the trust I place in the curation.

At best, the bright yellow mailchimp ad popping up on the landing view made focus on the color pallet problematic for me.

Finally, in terms of making color judgments using a computer screen, I find a bright background better. Darker backgrounds allow darker swatches and darker colors appear more saturated.
