I've done this hack for a point&shoot that couldn't understand the film I was loading (and would therefore default to 100).

I really wish one of these articles would go into the meaning of the barcodes on the film strips themselves, because I have a number of negatives that I'd like to scan and being able to automatically recognise the frame number and film stock would help me build a raspi controlled solution for it. I used to have an automated scanner that could do whole rolls at once and automatically apply a colour profile and number all the files - I just want that again.
