> The way OpenBSD authenticates users is quite different from other Unix-like operating systems. Most other systems like AIX, Solaris, Linux, the other BSDs, and MacOS, use a framework called Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM).
OpenBSD does some things very differently, and whether you like the way they do things may be a matter of taste. However, when the OpenBSD people do something different, it’s usually carefully reasoned, cleanly implemented, or at least thought provoking.
