Other than Chevy and Ford the list is dominated by brands that don't really do trucks and the demographics who are over-represented on HN proudly turn their noses up at.
I think the trend we're seeing is that people who formerly would only consider a Civic or Corrolla and wouldn't be caught dead in a Sentra are being forced to consider the latter because #EverythingShortage
I’m trying to buy a suburban, and there’s a $5000 “market up charge” OVER msrp and the vehicles sit on the lot for mere hours until they sell. We’ve missed out on several because someone else beat us to the dealership by minutes.
This seems to “brands for which we can earn a commission by offering our services to help you through the dealership purchasing process.”
It’s that old investigative question: Who benefits?
Kind of like when Biden held a White House “EV Summit” for auto makers and did not invite Tesla… I kid you not, this happened. Still scratching my head over that one.

Now that those people can't as readily advertise their upper middle class parenting prowess by putting a 4Runner in the driveway the same money is chasing anything it can get its hands on so the prices on everything else are being driven up toward equilibrium.
Edit: do people think I'm wrong or are they just annoyed that I pointed out that perceived image was part of their car buying decision?
Personally I think a 38% price increase is surprising even though I understand there is a supply/demand issue. Understandable, believable, but still surprising.
