The next season of Black Mirror is writing itself.
Back when I was a student, I used to have insurance from a company that let me save money by plugging in a ODB-II device to monitor driving habits.
I think Progressive still has the Snapshot device.
I think it would be really funny watching them try to install one of those in my 91' Ford
my insurance company tracks my driving through an app on my phone and my car insurance went down significantly.
Anyone know why they are launching this only with the Texas insurance and not the California insurance?
They already have an insurance in California. However in California some of the scoring system is not allowed, its essentially insurance version 1.
The reason why it is not in other places is that insurance regulation is insane and totally different in every state.
Because California insurance laws are extremely rigid in how rates are allowed to be formulated and it essentially precludes all forms of driving behavior based UBI
I'm a safe/slow driver and I'd sign up for this. I'd love insurance companies to price out speeding and reckless drivers for the sake of safety of others.
hard pass
Why? Shouldn’t it lower ones rates unless one drives recklessly?
Probably the issue is with your insurance having a full record of where you go and what you do with your car.
Someone cuts you off, you slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. Your rates go up. No thank you.
