Senior Developers in Eastern Europe Walk into a Bar

Article suggests that this situation might happen in Poland too. I'm from Poland and I know it's definitely happening here. Before covid I got a raise, almost maximum what a senior developer could earn in my region, I thought it was verly lucky for me. Now it's becoming hard to hire junior developer for that price and 1/3 of my company quit recently because they got offers for twice more money and for less demanding work.

The fact is there's a market now to connect eastern Europe with companies needing skillsets.

We're constantly approached by middlemen looking it broker an EE to us in Australia with terms that simply don't make sense based on how much of the ticket they're clipping.

The part that's worse is these devs signup and commit to these parasites and miss out on being a direct hire die to some misplaced loyalty.

Right now I landed my first gig in Italy, i'm getting 25k before taxes. When I told that to my friends that work in Denmark/Sweden/Germany they thought I was joking since for them my salary is not even entry level while here it's almost average for the country. Different Eu countries have wildly different markets and salaries, which is kinda crazy since you just can go and live somewhere else in EU with almost no documents

I'm currently in EE and kinda underpaid

I think there's a decent chance to get 5-7x salary increase...

On the other hand FAANG/CPU companies don't even write rejection email to me; or I'm just used to different response time + my tech stack doesn't really fit them.
