From one side of things it's victim-blaming, from the other side of things it's the banks which are taking our money to keep them safe but not actually doing the project job of keeping them safe.
I don't need your crappy marketing, I need good access to online services and bulletproof security from anywhere. This is actually quite easy (especially given that my EU passport now even has a chip).
You could argue that then the fraudsters could steal the passport, but let's be honest: this situation didn't happen with a stolen passport and probably has orders of magnitude larger area of risk than a stolen passport.
