With some limitations that I can’t remember, that I believe were minor and not insurmountable, Casey actually implemented a windows terminal with the “PhD” level work mentioned in this issue. He showcases it here. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hxM8QmyZXtg

I watched it months ago, but from memory, I believe:

- it has better Unicode/layout support than windows-terminal

- it renders as fast as promised

- it has a tiny code base

It's the usual Microsoft software quality.

Here’s something interesting. I tried to port the benchmark to Linux and I’m seeing a even larger performance gap between colored and non-colored text on Linux (roughly 60x - 80x). The overall rendering performance is better on Windows, of course.
