Peruse ebay or craigslist enough and you'll find all manner of images posted, upside down, tilted left or right, and with all manner of stuff in the backgrounds unrelated to the item for sale. Most people are simply unaware that there is any alternative (like cropping after taking the photo, or even 'cropping' before taking the photo [i.e., making the item fill the full frame, before taking the shot]).
