This just seems like an ad. As building another calendar app doesn’t seem that newsworthy, I can only imagine TechCrunch writing about this because they are a subsidiary of Yahoo.

Yahoo is basically a tracking platform like google. We don’t need more calendar apps that track us
truth. but if you cannot avoid the trackers, then you should diversify them. e.g. I only ask Bing health questions. Google thinks I'm as healthy as horse (or at least not neurotic about my health).
