A more appropriate title is something like "How to make housing more affordable in California." Housing is plenty-affordable in most of the country, even with the latest boom.
In almost any area with high demand, the prices are almost as high as California. The same zoning restrictions are everywhere.
CA's this weird place with an amazing climate and lots of high-paying jobs. You can look at a similarly booming place like Austin, and still find affordable housing within a 1 hour drive anywhere. Same with Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia... Even NYC has affordable housing within a 1 hour commute.
Where can you find affordable housing within 1 hour of Boston or New York? (That you can actually commute to those cities within an hour during normal working hours)
