Hinkley Point C: the deal behind the most expensive nuclear plant (2017)

This article was published in 2017. The current status of Hinkley Point C: due for completion in 2026. The estimated cost (so far) is £23 billion. [1]

Hinkley Point C is an European pressurised reactor (EPR) design, the same design in use for:

- the Olkiluoto 3 power plant in Finland (due to start generating electricity in June 2022)

- Flamanville 3 in France (expected to be completed in 2023 at the earliest)
