Google Keep doesn't support image format that Google created

I tried to upload a WebP image to Google Keep(Google's version of online Notes) and it said upload failed then I converted it to JPEG and it worked.

Maybe it's just me but if it is true I find it funny that they do not support compressed image format that they created.
