So, the truth is exactly what everyone thinks it is?
Seriously what a clickbait article.
Do you hold any beliefs you know to not be the truth?
That’s not precisely the issue. Do you hold any beliefs someone else knows to not be the truth?
I wish they had probed a little further on their questions because I’m so sure the answer has to do with the fact that “a quarter-pound-er” is one of those words that has taken on an identity separate from its component words and just means “a normal sized burger” where a “third pounder” sounds like “a third of a normal sized burger” on first blush.
Why didn't they just release a a fifth pounder?
That’s the real solution :-)
Everybody knows 3 is less than 4, so 1/3 must be less than 1/4.
This just goes to show you that fractions are irrational numbers.
I'm kinda confused why they use fractions for burgers anyways. Of course metric would probably have prevented it, but even in standard you could say 5 vs 4 ounce. Or does that just sound smaller to people? AFAIK, in my lifetime at least, other meats like steak have always been advertised or listed in ounces.
Focus groups will tell you all sorts of bizarre things; you're talking to a handful of people who are pretty unlikely to represent your average customer base. The story is a little too cute.
I suspect this failed more because it's an awful way to compete, trying to increase sales by seriously cutting into your margins.
Truth is always stranger than fiction because fiction has to make sense.
