YouTube currently has a problem with scammer bot comments appearing on countless amounts of channels, especially those in the investing and finance niche.
And unfortunately, we've been the target of these scammers too. So, I decided to do some investigating and confront my scammers/imposters face-to-face.
The author discovers a third-party tool for removing spam and scammer comments that proves fairly effective.
I think it's fair to ask: how is YouTube, with all it's tech and programming resources, unable to solve the problem of spam, bots and impersonator comments? And yet a third-party tool is able to tackle the same problem more effectively than YouTube?
They're not unable, they have no incentive to. These bots and scammers probably count in their metrics and view ads so it's actually beneficial for Google to have them.
Change the laws so that platforms are considered complicit if they knowingly host/promote scams or don't do reasonable efforts to detect it (as you said, Google has enough resources to do a great job at this if they were willing) and the problem will go away immediately.
