Joe Biden’s Covid vaccine speech

> “Only 1 out of every 160,000 fully vaccinated Americans was hospitalized for COVID per day.”

I do not understand why they are playing games with these numbers. According to the CDC[1], 4.66/100,000 people fully vaccinated against Covid19 have been hospitalized due to Covid19. That number is 7.5 times as high as the president cited. I am sure the combination of "over the summer" and "per day" can be used to justify that lower number, but when you have to go through these contortions, it undermines trust.

See table "Hospitalized or fatal COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases reported to CDC as of August 30, 2021" in [1]. Calculation is (10,471 - 2,2409)/1,730 = 4.66 / 100,000.

(4.66/100,000)/(1/160,000) = 7.5.
