Why would there be vaccine uptake if people are led to believe it's not dangerous and there are magic cures for it if they do get it?
American media then politicised it weeks or months later.
I can't think of a reason for why CDC/Media is talking down these medicines which the rest of the countries administer just fine.
People decided that doctors have their best interests in mind and they would do everything they can to save them.
Also the media in other countries were not running disingenuous stories calling them fish tank cleaners and horse dewormers. Looks like people have a huge distrust of American media/CDC and that's their own doing.
