They called him the French James Dean, but Humphrey Bogart might be the better comparison. He oozed charm and self confidence. You don't need subtitles to see the guys charisma:

Humphrey Bogart is an apt comparison considering his character in Breathless explicitly copied Bogart's mannerisms. In one scene he even stares at a picture of Bogart outside a movie theater.

Fun fact : Belmondo gave his face to two comic book characters. The main character of the manga Cobra, and Lieutenant Blueberry, by author Gir.

Another fun fact, “That Man From Rio” (1964) had a "major influence" on “Indiana Jones” for Steven Spielberg, according to:

Belmondo's comedies were very popular in Czechoslovakia. Rip maestro.

'Breathless' is great, to those that haven't seen it.

Aside from his contributions to the art he was also influential in starting the Paris Saint Germain soccer club and while the club is now famous for its current ownership (the state of Qatar) the story behind its original founding in 1970 is also very interesting

Un professionnel nous a quitté.
