Covid-19 Patients Not Allowed to Know Which Variant Infected Them

Here in prison Aus we are not allowed to get our doctors to test if we have covid antibodies. Nor are we allowed to use any self Covid tests of any kind. Where can Aussies seek asylum?

Also, in Australia the mandatory vaccine passports do NOT recognize natural immunity.

So, uh... how exactly are places like my own state health and governance system justifying their actions scientifically when they trot out "due to surge in Delta variant cases"? Are they simply speculating? Because that doesn't bode well for any of this ever ending.

They know the proportion of cases due to each variant. They just can't use the test that determines the variant for diagnostic purposes as that requires separate approval.

They do know what variant you have. You just aren't allowed to know.

Do they though? As I understand it the PCR tests aren’t designed to distinguish between variants.

We run more intensive sequencing assays on some subset of patients to assess in a statistical way the spread and emergence of variants. This would be prohibitively expensive and time consuming to run for everyone with a positive PCR result
