A sci-fi future where men were indistinguishable from women was brought up in The Three-Body Problem series.

Considering how stereotypical Liu Cixin's on-the-ground social views (rather than the human-condition social views) were, I think it's just his reflection of mainstream cultural directions China is going through. And I'd say gender fluid men is much more mainstream than in the west.

I can't help but wonder if this is the point where the unstoppable juggernaut that China seems to be has hit it first stumbling block.

The article mentions enforcing morality. I wonder where they get their ideas about morality from. I thought they were "officially" atheist..

The answer is pretty clearly money.

Atheism does not mean the lack of morality. I find it rather sad that some people cannot imagine morality without a higher authority.

I was an atheist for a long time. I never could see how one could construct a coherent morality. Without a god, we are all just bits of matter assembled in a particular way. Smashing the competitions skull is no different that two space rocks colliding. The concepts of right and wrong are devoid of meaning.

Every argument for a godless morality I have seen essentially boils down to "well, it would suck to live in a world where everybody acted like _that_," (so what?), which I even less compelling than "don't do _that_ because god said so."

Guess I'm never going to be on Chinese TV then.

These are some empty hopes! It's beyond the obvious that America's leadership in defense, science, and technology is doomed. Only Trump was crazy enough to recognize the fact that China's America's biggest rival, and that Democrat's obsession with Russia is taking us nowhere.
