Today my brother recieved his first insulin shot. He's only 25.
He's early on the discovery process of a Type 1 Diabetes, I think it's also genetic and I will need testing.
My question would be, is there a possible path out of medication with improving health/diet/supplements whatever?
Any links or resources much appreciated, it sucks to have to learn about this, but better sooner than later I suppose...

So he's going to be on insulin for the rest of his life. For reasons that are unclear, his immune system has destroyed the insulin-generating cells in his pancreas. They don't come back, no matter his diet.
He needs to watch his diet, not to prevent the disease, but to make it manageable. Details vary from person to person and depend on what type of insulin he takes (and how). He will want to watch his weight -- you can also get type 2 diabetes, which will make things worse. He'll need to take in carbs, but not too many... he's just going to have to learn what works for him, which is a lifelong process of discovery.
Fortunately, with modern techniques, diabetics can live full, healthy lives. It does suck, but it doesn't have to be debilitating.
