This is an interesting license which has a time delayed component. I was searching for such a license after reading the post
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28320404 which discusses the limitations of Linux competing with windows/macOS when they have much more limited funds from the lack of commercial options. The lack of a way to finance open source is holding it back. This provides a middle path that would expand open source and provide an option for funding commercial software that becomes open source with time.
