Shows how savvy Qatar’s propaganda operation is. They deftly use intersectionality to invert the real power relationship in the discussion. Ordinarily, a fabulously wealthy principality attacking a random woman in Oklahoma would come across as bullying.
The real story seems to be that Reneau helped by making the girl’s plight go viral and working a personal connection at the US embassy in Qatar: https://www.wsj.com/articles/oklahoma-woman-to-the-kabul-res... (“Mrs. Reneau had met the girls, ages 16 to 18, at a 2019 Humans to Mars summit in Washington while they were on a visit for a robotics competition in the U.S… In Qatar a former roommate of hers now working at the U.S. Embassy stayed up all night to process the paperwork needed to get the girls out. The government of Qatar sent a plane and flew the girls out.”).
The Qatari government obviously did the hard work of sending the plane to get the girls. But a sovereign state complaining that some well-meaning lady is taking too much credit for her role in the rescue is extremely petty.
