So part of the concern is that kids are going to treat masks as security blankets? I can understand some of the concern about learning social skills but that ends up reaching a bit far IMO

Don't forget to then consider the chance of the likely two guardians of the child, who would likely implicitly get covid as well, and then don't forget the % that they will require treatment, in turn taking treatment away from others when resources are stretched as they have been

They have had months to get vaccinated or otherwise prepare for the inevitable outcome of catching what has become an extraordinarily contagious endemic virus. Should their kids wear masks for the rest of their lives to protect their own parents from the virus? (Supposedly -- in reality there is very little evidence these measures work very well to reduce transmission at all.)

If you think wearing a mask is traumatic, how about catching Covid?

Yeah, they might have the sniffles and a slight fever for a few days.

These requirements are nuts. Masks at this point are a social submission test, and children are the most vulnerable.

Literally every person I have discussed the specific issues for children with has repeated the same bromide, "kids are resilient." This is how they handwave away concerns about the profound changes we are imposing on children's physical and social environments for months on end.
