Google VCU Video Coding Unit at Hot Chips 33

Note to myself.

The Key difference between this and other hardware decoder is Google basically model their hardware from their Software Encoder.

It may be a fun and useful project to do at google scale but still dont quite understand the "why". Off the shelf Hardware encoder IP are extremely efficient in both live streaming and offline processing. Those resources could have been used in AV2 to fix all the downside of AV1.
