The author brazenly quotes the word "create" in reference to jobs as if the entire operation somehow won't generate economic activity.
A quick look on Google maps at the former state of the building reveals not something cheery, as indicated by "covered in murals and cartoons", but instead blighted where artful murals are juxtaposed with random spray painting over windows and doors along with odd couches, tires and other trash strewn around the building.
The real litmus test is Zillow; surrounded by largely million dollar homes it becomes super apparent that NIMBY is indeed the right term for the author and those opposed to an all but abandoned building being used to create jobs.
The building is positioned between a standard street and significant thoroughfare, both of which have two full lanes, room for parking and painted center lines AND both of which have bike lanes or indicators. Adeline has substantial parking which presumably any business on that site would enjoy (although apparently those in the million dollar homes should be entitled to all of it?).
This piece is better for NextDoor (although unsurprisingly SFGate et al have become great mouth pieces to amplify NIMBYs like this).
