Who do I have to thank for this beautiful news reader?

I tried a random site from that list and it doesn't work without js enabled, so I wouldn't call it a text only site.

Thank you for these.

There’s always something else to look at when this topic comes up.

I very much agree. HN is about the only social site that works well on a crappy connection. E.g. when using the computer on a train. Truly awesome!

HN was developed initially by Paul Graham: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Graham_(programmer)

Now it’s taken care of mostly by 'dang: https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-silicon-valley/th...

Fincancially backed by Y Combinator: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y_Combinator

From what I've seen so far Paul Graham knows how to make an incredibly efficient website. Thank you all!

Wonderful observation! Am curious: How you are still on a 1G conn in Aug 2021?

Pro tip: HN "from" call is almost precisely a minimalist RSS news river:

https://news.ycombinator.com/from?site=nytimes.com

Well my terminology might be inaccurate. Most so called unlimited plans like the one I have from Red Pocket have some kind of residual stream you can use when your data has run out. According to my Ubuntu Mate task manager my download speed is no more than 16kB/s upload upto 9kB/s.
